Dems Aim To Expand Union Eligibility Under NLRA

Law360, New York (March 7, 2012, 8:23 PM EST) -- Senate Democrats said Wednesday they had introduced a bill to narrow the definition of the term “supervisor” in the National Labor Relations Act so that more workers would be eligible to join unions, drawing praise from the president of the AFL-CIO.

Sens. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., Tom Harkin, D-Iowa, and Dick Durbin, D-Ill., announced the introduction of the Re-Empowerment of Skilled and Professional Employees and Construction Tradeworkers Act, or RESPECT Act, which has been floated before but has never become law.
