Ocean Spray Settles Suit Over Craisins Patent

Law360, New York (March 9, 2012, 12:27 PM EST) -- Ocean Spray Cranberries Inc. on Thursday settled its dispute with rival Decas Cranberry Products Inc. over allegations that Decas’ sweetened dried cranberries infringe Ocean Spray's patented process for the infusion of dried fruit used  for its blockbuster Craisins snack.

U.S. District Judge Judge Rya W. Zobel ordered the case dismissed without prejudice and without costs and gave the parties 30 days to reopen the action if settlement is not consummated.

Terms of the settlement were not disclosed.
