Judge Overturns Largest Patent Verdict In History

Law360, New York (August 6, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- In a major victory for Microsoft Corp., a San Diego district court judge on Monday overturned a verdict in a case that had resulted in the largest patent damages in history.

U.S. District Judge Rudi Brewster set aside the $1.52 billion damage award, concluding that Microsoft did not infringe one of the two patents at issue, and that Lucent did not have legal standing to bring suit over the second patent since it was not the sole owner.
