Italian Regulators Urge Energy Cos. To Cut Prices

Law360 (August 7, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Italy's top antitrust regulator has blasted the efforts of the member state's energy providers to lower prices, claiming that the companies could be doing more to cut costs for customers.

Italian energy giant Eni SpA's proposal to cut the average cost of gas by two cents is not enough to bring prices down to the European average, chief antitrust regulator Antonio Catricala told Italian newspaper Corriere della Serra on Monday.
