Aussie Watchdog Claims Flight Centre Plotted To Fix Airfares

Law360, New York (March 9, 2012, 6:02 PM EST) -- Australia's competition watchdog has sued travel agency Flight Centre Ltd. for allegedly trying to induce three major international airlines to fix airfare prices, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission said Friday.

The commission accused the travel service, the country's largest, of making six attempts between 2005 and 2009 to get Singapore Airlines Ltd., Malaysia Airlines and Dubai-based airline Emirates to go in on an agreement to fix prices, according to an ACCC statement.
