DOJ Wants Trustee To Ensure Mittal Mill Sale

Law360, New York (August 7, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Justice on Monday asked a federal judge to appoint a trustee to ensure that a tin mill owned by Mittal Steel Co. NV is sold, after the steel company failed to meet a divestiture deadline imposed by the DOJ.

The DOJ made the sale of the Sparrows Point facility near Baltimore, Md. a condition of Mittal's deal to complete its $33 billion hostile takeover of Luxembourg-based rival Arcelor SA, but the Aug. 6 deadline came and went.
