Trade Group Fights EPA's Renewable Fuel Rules For Refiners

Law360, Washington (March 13, 2012, 5:06 PM EDT) -- The American Petroleum Institute asked the D.C. Circuit on Friday to review the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's 2012 renewable fuel use requirements for gasoline and diesel refiners, saying the rules were unachievable and unrealistic.

The new standard requires refiners and importers to use 8.6 million gallons of cellulosic biofuels, which are made from nonedible plant parts. But the industry group says the biofuel market isn't large enough to cover the use, so its members will be forced to purchase credits to make up the difference....
