Obama Signs Countervailing Duties Bill Aimed At China

Law360, New York (March 13, 2012, 1:54 PM EDT) -- President Barack Obama signed legislation Tuesday enabling trade regulators to apply countervailing duties to imports from China and other nonmarket economies in a move the bill's proponents said would “level the playing field” for U.S. businesses.

H.R. 4105, which grants the U.S. Department of Commerce the power to impose countervailing duties on goods hailing from countries in which governments subsidize export industries, passed through the executive office just one week after receiving resounding support in both chambers of Congress.
