EPA Orders Fla. Transport System To Stop Pesticide Fogging

Law360, New York (March 13, 2012, 7:02 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is demanding that a Florida public transportation system stop illegally releasing the pesticide sporicidin inside its vehicles through a fogging machine, according to an order the agency issued Tuesday.

The Volusia County Public Transportation System, known as Votran, which services Daytona Beach and other urban areas on the east coast of Florida, has violated the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide and Rodenticide Act by using the anti-microbial pesticide to disinfect the interior of its vehicles, the EPA's order said.
