Lawmakers Urge FDA To Label Genetically Engineered Foods

Law360, New York (March 14, 2012, 12:56 PM EDT) -- Fifty-five members of Congress on Monday told the U.S. Food and Drug Administration that they supported a petition demanding that genetically engineered foods be labeled to better inform shoppers and prevent consumer deception.

The lawmakers are just the latest to support a Center for Food Safety petition calling for genetically engineered food labeling, joining more than 400 organizations including the Consumer Federation of America and the American Medical Student Association in requesting the policy change.
