Energy Market Drove Fed Land Production Dip, BLM Chief Says

Law360, New York (March 14, 2012, 8:18 PM EDT) -- A top U.S. Department of the Interior official on Wednesday rejected claims that agency policies had driven down oil and gas production on federal lands last year, attributing the trend to changes in the energy market.

Testifying in a Senate Appropriations Committee hearing, Bureau of Land Management Director Robert Abbey told lawmakers that business decisions were leading extraction companies to develop more state and private land.
