Budget Cuts Won't Derail Pay Bump For NY Judges

Law360, New York (March 15, 2012, 3:56 PM EDT) -- Budget-slashing in Albany will not derail a plan to give New York's 1,200 judges their first pay bumps in 12 years, a key lawmaker said Thursday, while a veteran attorney who has studied judicial pay said the upward adjustments are insufficient.

Trial judges in the Empire State will see their salaries increase over three years from about $137,000 to $174,000, according to Brooklyn Assemblyman Joseph R. Lentol, who co-chairs the state's Public Protection Budget Conference Committee along with State Sen. Stephen Saland of Poughkeepsie.
