Judges Accuse Calif. Of Denying Them Pension Benefits

Law360, New York (March 15, 2012, 4:34 PM EDT) -- Dozens of retired judges and their beneficiaries launched a suit last week alleging California's Judges' Retirement System had repeatedly delayed administering owed benefits with the hopes that judges would die before collecting their benefits.

The judges, along with several surviving spouses and heirs, filed the California state court suit on March 8 asking for a writ of mandate to force the California Public Employees' Retirement System to dole out the unpaid and delinquent retirement benefits the plaintiffs allege they are owed.
