Shell Homes In On Pa. To Host Coveted Ethane Cracker

Law360, New York (March 15, 2012, 7:01 PM EDT) -- Shell Chemical LP inked an option agreement Thursday to purchase a zinc smelting site in Pennsylvania, meaning the state may become the home to Shell's highly anticipated, multibillion-dollar ethane cracker.

Pittsburgh-based Horsehead Corp. granted Shell the option to buy its zinc production facilities near Monaco, Pa., which Shell said it would evaluate as a possible site for a petrochemical plant that states throughout the Appalachian region have been chomping at the bit to host.
