Sanofi Acquires Pluromed To Commercialize Surgical Gel

Law360, New York (March 16, 2012, 1:26 PM EDT) -- French pharmaceutical giant Sanofi-Aventis plans to scoop up Massachusetts-based Pluromed Inc. to expand its own biosurgery offerings and give the medical device maker enough financial backing to commercialize one of its Food and Drug Administration-approved pipeline products, Sanofi said Friday.

The two companies entered in a definitive agreement that will give Sanofi access to the proprietary portfolio of Pluromed, which has developed a polymer used in injectable inserts for surgeries. In return, Sanofi said it will pump up production on Pluromed's LeGoo, a non-toxic gel to...
