States, Enviros Pipe Up For Power Plant Emissions Rule

Law360, New York (March 19, 2012, 1:43 PM EDT) -- Twelve states, the District of Columbia, New York City and 16 environmental and public health groups sought Friday to defend a new federal rule limiting mercury and other toxic emissions from power plants against challenges brought by industry in the D.C. Circuit.

The groups asked the D.C. Circuit for permission to intervene in lawsuits brought by the National Mining Association, National Black Chamber of Commerce and Institute for Liberty, as well as White Stallion Energy Center LLC, a proposed 1,320-megawatt power plant in Texas.
