New Budweiser Labels Spark Patent Suit

Law360, New York (August 9, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A Canadian company uncorked a lawsuit against Anheuser-Busch Companies Inc. on Wednesday for allegedly infringing its patent on a type of pressure-sensitive adhesive label.

In the complaint, Quebec-based Equipements de Transformation IMAC, otherwise known as ETI Converting Equipment Inc., accused Anheuser-Busch of manufacturing the infringing labels for its Bud Light and Budweiser Select bottles.

The labels, which have printing on the front and the back of the label stock, have enhanced Anheuser-Busch's bottles and increased the sale of its beer, the complaint alleged.
