FTC Urged To Probe Merck, Sanofi Vaccine Bundling

Law360, New York (March 19, 2012, 5:23 PM EDT) -- Four advocacy groups asked the Federal Trade Commission on Monday to investigate claims that Merck & Co. Inc. and Sanofi Pasteur Inc. colluded to coerce physician groups into buying all of their vaccines from the same drugmaker at the expense of patients' health.

Merck and Sanofi have forced pediatricians to purchase all their vaccines in a bundle at a discount from the same company regardless of whether other vaccine manufacturers offer more effective alternatives, the watchdog groups said.
