IP Boutique Hit With Malpractice Suit Over Patent Advice

Law360, New York (March 19, 2012, 10:41 PM EDT) -- Petter Investment Co. accused intellectual property boutique Price Heneveld Cooper DeWitt & Litton LLP and one of its former attorneys in Michigan on Monday of negligently advising it in a car wash device patent infringement dispute in which Petter had to settle for $550,000.

The owners of Petter, which does business as Riveer Environmental and manufactures industrial washing equipment, claim that Price Heneveld and Eugene Rath had wrongly assured them that their portable wash pad system using a grate did not infringe Hydro Engineering Inc.'s patents....
