Amazon's $775M Kiva Systems Deal Aimed At Cutting Costs

Law360, Los Angeles (March 19, 2012, 8:30 PM EDT) -- Amazon.com, Inc. said Monday that it has agreed to purchase logistics-technology company Kiva Systems Inc. for $775 million, in a move Amazon said will reduce production costs for its growing online sales operation.

Under the terms of the deal, Amazon will acquire all outstanding shares of Kiva, which will remain headquartered in North Reading, Mass., according to a statement. The deal is expected to close in the second quarter of 2012 pending various closing conditions, Amazon said.
