China Bans Two Manufacturers From Exporting Toys

Law360, New York (August 9, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Signaling its intent to crack down on shoddy and illegal manufacturing practices, the Chinese government on Thursday banned exports by two toy manufacturers responsible for major recalls of toys sold in the United States.

The toys had been recalled because they contained lead paint, which causes neurological and learning disorders in children even at small doses.

The General Administration for Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said that the restrictions on Lee Der Industrial Co. Ltd. And Hangsheng Wood Products were temporary, but did not provide any...
