Dominion Virginia Asks Feds For Offshore Wind Project

Law360, New York (March 20, 2012, 4:14 PM EDT) -- Dominion Virginia Power told the federal government Monday that it is interested in snatching up a swath of offshore space to build wind turbines, which the power provider said would yield 1,500 to 2,000 megawatts of electricity.

The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management put out a call in early February to gauge interest in developing wind-based energy projects in the area, which is about 23 nautical miles from the Virginia Beach coastline. The agency had set a Monday deadline for inquiries.
