Pfizer To Pay Oregon $3.3M To End Zyvox Marketing Suit

Law360, New York (March 20, 2012, 3:54 PM EDT) -- Oregon's attorney general announced Monday the state had entered into a $3.3 million settlement with Pfizer Inc. ending a state court suit alleging deceptive marketing of the prescription antibiotic Zyvox.

Pfizer admits no liability in the settlement filed Monday in Marion County Circuit Court, which Oregon officials said was the Oregon Department of Justice's largest such deal ever reached with a pharmaceutical maker. Oregon alleges Zyvox made unreliable and unsubstantiated claims to promote Zyvox, a relatively new and pricey drug used for pneumonia and skin infections....
