L'Oreal Wins Battle Over Trademark Bid For Aloe Vera Drinks

Law360, New York (March 21, 2012, 5:23 PM EDT) -- L’Oreal SA prevailed Wednesday in a trademark appeal, winning a ruling that a trademark application for a brand of aloe vera beverages called “L'Oreal Paris” should be denied because the drinks were likely to confuse consumers.

The Trademark Trial and Appeal Board of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office wrote in a precedential opinion that the application was the work of a serial abuser of the trademark system and was intended to profit off the makeup giant's famous brand name.
