Canada Places Cancer Warnings On Merck And GSK Drugs

Law360, New York (March 20, 2012, 9:37 PM EDT) -- Canada's health regulator said Monday it has slapped warnings on prescription drugs marketed by Merck & Co Inc. and GlaxoSmithKline PLC that treat enlarged prostates and baldness after finding they could raise the risk of an aggressive form of prostate cancer.

Health Canada added the warnings to Merck's Proscar and Propecia and GlaxoSmithKline's Avodart and Jalyn more than nine months after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued similar warnings.
