House Favors Highway Bill Extension Over Senate Option

Law360, New York (March 20, 2012, 7:52 PM EDT) -- The U.S. House of Representatives is considering extending the current highway funding bill instead of approving the bipartisan transportation bill passed by the U.S. Senate last week, Rep. John Mica, R-Fla., said Tuesday.

Mica, chairman of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, told reporters that the House was unlikely to vote on the Senate’s bill, the committee’s staff director Jim Coon said.

“We’re still discussing what the length [of the extension] will be,” Coon added.
