Rep. Eyes Russian Concessions To Improve Trade Relations

Law360, New York (March 21, 2012, 7:28 PM EDT) -- House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairwoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, R-Fla., on Wednesday cautioned against granting Russia permanent normal trade relations until certain conditions have been met, despite Russia's forthcoming induction into the World Trade Organization.

Ros-Lehtinen urged Congress not to authorize the repeal of a 1974 law known as the Jackson-Vanik amendment, in light of Russia's foreign policy stance on issues like Iran and its purported record of human rights abuses.
