Philippines Ready To Bid $1.4B Light Rail Project

Law360, New York (March 22, 2012, 1:32 PM EDT) -- A $1.38-billion proposal to expand the Manila metro area's light rail system cleared a final regulatory hurdle in the Philippines on Thursday, and the government is now preparing to put the project out to bid.

Philippines President Benigno Aquino III and the National Economic and Development Authority, which the president chairs, approved the proposed public-private partnership as part of a 12-project package, Transportation and Communications Secretary Manuel “Mar” Roxas II announced via Twitter early Thursday.
