Massey Unit Settles CWA Suit Over Tainted Water Discharge

Law360, Chicago (March 22, 2012, 1:07 PM EDT) -- A unit of coal producer Massey Energy Co. on Tuesday settled an environmental group's lawsuit alleging the company violated the Clean Water Act by funneling polluted water into a tributary of West Virginia's Big Coal River.

U.S. District Judge Irene C. Berger approved the consent decree that Marfork Coal Co. Inc. inked with Coal River Mountain Watch Inc.
