Sutherland Leads Enbridge In 1st US Solar Farm Buy

Law360, New York (March 22, 2012, 6:05 PM EDT) -- Canadian oil pipeline giant Enbridge Inc. has bought a 50-megawatt photovoltaic project in Nevada from beleaguered First Solar Inc., taking its first step into the U.S. solar market, the company said Thursday.

The Silver State North project, which is the first solar farm to be built on federal land in Nevada, is expected to begin commercial operation by May. Its power is under a 25-year purchase contract with NV Energy, the state's leading electric utility. Financial terms were not disclosed.
