House Panel OKs Subpoenas Over DOI Drilling, Coal Rules

Law360, New York (March 28, 2012, 7:11 PM EDT) -- The U.S. House of Representatives' Natural Resources Committee voted Wednesday to authorize subpoenas against the U.S. Department of the Interior on allegations that the agency has failed to comply with investigations into the Obama administration’s offshore drilling moratorium and coal mining regulations.

The committee voted 23-17, on party lines, to give Chairman Doc Hastings, R-Wash., authorization to subpoena the agency, which Republicans claim has spent the past year obstructing the committee’s probes.
