Doctors Urge Over-The-Counter Birth Control At FDA Hearing

Law360, New York (March 23, 2012, 5:31 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration should consider making a daily birth control pill available over the counter, a group of doctors and reproductive health advocates told an agency panel on Friday.

The group made its presentation to the panel at hearings held Thursday and Friday on a proposal to make more drugs available without prescriptions, including some that treat high blood pressure and asthma. Birth control is not something the FDA is currently considering under the proposal.
