Japan, Canada Begin Free Trade Talks

Law360, New York (March 26, 2012, 3:22 PM EDT) -- Canada and Japan have begun talks over a bilateral free trade agreement that will deepen trade and investment ties between Canada and Japan, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s office said Sunday.

The announcement was made during an official visit to Japan by Harper, who lauded the negotiations as “a truly historic step” that will help create jobs and boost economic growth for both countries.
