San Diego Diocese Called To Defend Its Case

Law360, New York (August 13, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Frustrated over a perceived lack of cooperation, a federal bankruptcy judge has demanded that the Roman Catholic Diocese of San Diego provide her with a good reason not to throw out the bankruptcy case, initiated after the diocese was hit by scores of sexual abuse claims.

Judge Louise De Carl Adler slapped the diocese with a show cause order on Friday, two weeks after an independent auditor accused a handful of San Diego parishes of trying to conceal an estimated $500,000 in funds from the bankruptcy...
