Bipartisan Senate Bill Aims To Hasten Key Drug Approvals

Law360, Washington (March 27, 2012, 8:28 PM EDT) -- Three U.S. senators introduced a bipartisan bill Monday that would expedite U.S. Food and Drug Administration drug approvals if a treatment showed great promise early on in its testing.

The bill, named the Advancing Breakthrough Therapies for Patients Act, is sponsored by Sens. Michael Bennet, D-Colo.; Orrin Hatch, R-Utah; and Richard Burr, R-N.C., who say the act will help bring the most promising disease treatments to patients more swiftly without jeopardizing drug safety requirements.
