EU To Take Closer Look At $16.5B UTC, Goodrich Deal

Law360, New York (March 27, 2012, 12:29 PM EDT) -- The European Union has opened a broader investigation into United Technology Corp.’s $16.5 billion bid to buy Goodrich Corp. after a preliminary probe revealed potential competition concerns over the markets for engine controls and certain power generators, the European Commission said Tuesday.

The commission said it also had concerns regarding the removal of aerospace manufacturer Goodrich as an independent supplier of fuel nozzles and engine controls.
