Graco Wins Antitrust Clearance For $650M ITW Buy

Law360, New York (March 27, 2012, 7:54 PM EDT) -- The Federal Trade Commission said Tuesday that it will allow Graco Inc.'s proposed $650 million purchase of certain Illinois Tool Works Inc. operations to proceed after the industrial equipment supplier agreed to temporarily operate a portion of ITW as a separate entity.

The FTC said it has dropped an administrative proceeding in which it was seeking to halt the merger and has issued a consent order directing Graco to run ITW's liquid finishing equipment businesses as an independent and competitive business while the regulator fully examines...
