Gilchrist & Soames Recalls Chinese-Made Toothpaste

Law360 (August 13, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Gilchrist & Soames has become latest in a string of companies to issue a recall of Chinese-made toothpaste after it was found to contain a chemical often used in antifreeze.

On Monday, Gilchrist & Soames, a supplier of toiletries to luxury hotels, issued an urgent voluntary recall in cooperation with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration of its 0.65-ounce travel-size toothpaste after the company's own tests showed that the toothpaste contained the chemical diethylene glycol.

The toothpaste was manufactured in China by Ming Fai Enterprises International...
