NY To Block Attys Facing Review From Fee Dispute Program

Law360, New York (March 28, 2012, 4:16 PM EDT) -- New York court administrators sought comment Wednesday on a plan to block lawyers facing disciplinary action from availing themselves of the state's fee dispute resolution program — a move designed in part to protect the arbitration system's reputation.

The program, which began operating in 2002, is designed to ensure that Empire State attorneys and their clients have access to cost‐effective and professional quality solutions in fee fights. The program closed 1,130 cases in 2009, according to its latest annual report.
