Japan's Tepco Scraps Plans For 2 New Fukushima Reactors

Law360, New York (March 30, 2012, 2:42 PM EDT) -- Tokyo Electric Power Co. told Japanese officials on Friday that it would not go forward with plans to build two new nuclear reactors at the Fukushima Daiichi plant, which was devastated by last year's magnitude 9.0 earthquake and resulting tsunami.

The power company, also known as Tepco, officially informed Japan's minister of economy, trade and industry that it was “calling off” plans for a unit 7 and unit 8 at the plant, which had been expected to generate 1.28 million kilowatts of power each, according to...
