Teva Launches Generics Of Hypertension Drugs Avapro, Avalide

Law360, New York (April 2, 2012, 9:43 PM EDT) -- Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. launched generic versions of Sanofi Aventis SA and Bristol-Myers Squibb Co.’s hypertension drugs Avapro and Avalide in the U.S., the Israel-based generic drug giant said Monday after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved the first generic versions of the drugs to treat high blood pressure.

Teva, which said it was the first company to file abbreviated new drug applications for both drugs, received a 180-day period of marketing exclusivity, according to a statement by the firm.
