US Chamber Loses Trademark Fight In Fed. Circ.

Law360, New York (April 3, 2012, 5:02 PM EDT) -- The Federal Circuit said Tuesday that the U.S. Chamber of Commerce cannot register a trademark for the term "National Chamber," ruling that the term is merely descriptive of the organization's services.

The trade association applied to register the phrase "National Chamber" for use in providing directory information for local and state chambers of commerce and providing news and analysis about economic, legislative and regulatory activity that can impact businesses.
