Germany OKs $4B Offshore Wind Farm Amid Grid Delay Fears

Law360, New York (April 4, 2012, 2:44 PM EDT) -- German utility RWE AG received a construction permit Wednesday for what will become one of Europe's biggest offshore wind farms, but said uncertainty over the speed of grid construction could delay a financial close and push the €3 billion ($3.9 billion) project's start date into 2014.

The 330-megawatt Innogy Nordsee 1 farm would cover a 13-square-mile swath of the North Sea about 60 miles north of a German barrier island. Including planned second and third phases — for which RWS said it expects permits soon —...
