Green Groups Say Ore. Wind Farm Would Mar Landscape

Law360, New York (April 5, 2012, 11:10 PM EDT) -- Two Oregon conservation groups on Wednesday sued the U.S. Department of the Interior for approving an industrial wind energy farm on Steens Mountain in southeastern Oregon that they say will mar the landscape and disrupt several protected species.

In a complaint filed Oregon federal court, the Oregon Natural Desert Association and the Portland Audubon Society said the wind energy facility and high-capacity transmission line approved by Interior Secretary Ken Salazar will mar the mountain, a “unique ecological treasure” that has been protected by Congress.
