DOE Touts Renewable Energy Program's Economic Benefits

Law360, New York (April 6, 2012, 4:34 PM EDT) -- An expiring federal grant program for renewable energy projects has helped generate as many as 75,000 annual jobs and as much as $44 billion in economic output, a U.S. Department of Energy report released Friday said.

The program, known as Section 1603, helped create between 44,000 and 66,000 jobs in the wind energy sector and 83,00 to 9,700 jobs in the solar sector, the DOE’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory reported.
