US, EU Unveil Foreign Investment Guidelines

Law360, New York (April 10, 2012, 7:10 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Trade Representative and the Department of State on Tuesday announced they had reached an agreement with the European Union on a set of shared principles meant to promote free and sustainable international investment.

The principles emerged out of the Transatlantic Economic Council, through which U.S. and EU officials met in November and pushed for the drafting of joint international investing priorities “to strengthen our collaborative efforts to foster open investment policies worldwide,” the government said in a statement.
