EPA Rejects NRDC's Request To Ban Agent Orange Ingredient

Law360, New York (April 10, 2012, 4:45 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency said Monday it had shot down the Natural Resource Defense Council's request to ban Agent Orange ingredient 2,4-D, a common weed killer that the green group argues is dangerous for public health.

The agency's decision comes about seven weeks after the NRDC launched a suit in the D.C. Circuit to force action on a November 2008 petition to cancel registrations for 2,4-D products and revoke all tolerances, or legal limits for the herbicide residues in food.
