Sidley Helps Takeda With $800M Gout Drugmaker Buy

Law360, New York (April 11, 2012, 12:07 PM EDT) -- A unit of Japanese drug company Takeda Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd. plans to scoop up URL Pharma Inc., a privately owned Philadelphia-based manufacturer of gout medicines, for at least $800 million in cash up front, the subsidiary announced Wednesday.

Per the deal, URL Pharma’s current owners could also earn more capital if the company hits certain performance benchmarks starting in 2015.
