Brazil Fails In 2nd Bid To Halt Chevron Operations After Spill

Law360, New York (April 11, 2012, 7:21 PM EDT) -- Brazilian prosecutors on Wednesday again failed to win a court order barring Chevron Corp. and Transocean Ltd.'s operations in the country following a spill in Chevron's oil field development.

Federal prosecutors in Brazil have aggressively targeted the companies over oil spills in Chevron's Frade field, launching two $11 billion lawsuits and indicting 17 Chevron and Transocean employees on a slew of charges, including failing to comply with environmental obligations and obstructing an investigation.
