EPA Denies Green Groups A Review For Waste-Burning Rule

Law360, New York (April 12, 2012, 3:06 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has issued a final denial of environmental groups' request that it review a rule allowing refineries to burn certain petroleum waste materials into fuel, the agency announced Thursday.

Responding to comments from the Sierra Club and the Louisiana Environmental Action Network after the agency tentatively denied their petition in January 2011, the EPA said it does not expect the rule on waste gasification to cause adverse effects to human health or the environment and found the rule adhered to public notice...
